The Faculty of Pharmacy of Tishk International University organized the first National Tishk Pharmaceutical Conference, held on June 26-27, 2021.

The conference lasted for two days, consisting of 5 sessions and 6 sessions, respectively. The opening ceremony was held on TIU campus in the Faculty of Pharmacy building, in which Dr. Esra Tariq Bayrakdar, Head of Department and Convener, launched the event, followed by a welcome speech delivered by the President of Tishk International University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin. The introduction was followed by two presentations by keynote speakers in the presence of academic and administrative staff and students from TIU Faculty of Pharmacy. The subsequent sessions of the conference continued online.

The conference consisted of 11 speakers from Italy, Iraq (Baghdad, Mosul and Basra) and India, including three prominent keynote speakers: Asst.prof Dr.Abdul Samad Salahuddin, President of TIU, Erbil. Prof. Dr. Giovanni Vidari, University of Pavia, Italy, Prof. Dr Andrea Pieroni, University of Pollenzo, Italy.

The first keynote speaker was Asst. Prof Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin, who delivered a presentation under the title of” Successful implications of Molecular Modelling Guided Approaches: A Testimony of Paradigm shift in Drug Discovery”

Professor Dr. Giovanni Vidari, the second distinguished keynote speaker for the conference, outlined his presentation around “Biologically active constituents from traditional medicinal plants of Kurdistan” and the third keynote speaker of the second day was Professor Dr. Andrea Pieroni, who talked about “Kurdish wild vegetables: traditional edible medicines of the future.”

There was a total of 200 participants in conference, including on campus and online number of attendees in the first day, and 166 online participants on the second day.
