The first ICOWOBAS was held 14 years ago, in August 2007, in Surabaya. The event's purpose was to enhance a new collaboration between Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Indonesia, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. A year later, the second ICOWOBAS was held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on June 03-04 2009, jointly with the Regional Annual Fundamental Science Seminar (RAFSS 2009). In 2017, the conference was held at Salahaddin University (Kurdistan Region, Iraq) to enrich the collaboration between UTM, UNAIR, and Salahaddin University.
