Mercy Corner is an annual project that is organized by the Deanery of Students of Tishk International University, which is dedicated to refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) that are staying in camps in the Kurdistan region. The aim of this project is to shed light on the situation and raise awareness among our students.

The project was completed on the 9th of March, after delivering the donations gathered to Hasan Sham 2 Refugee Camp. Donation boxes were placed around campus weeks before in order to collect as many donations as possible and promote this project. Shortly after this, a food fundraising event was held on the 22nd of February to bring attention to the project.

With the cooperation of our partners (Mrovdostan Organization, Khosnaw Group, Dilnewa Organization), 600 food packages for 600 families were delivered to the refugee camp. Each package consisted of rice (5 Kg), sugar (2 Kg), bean (700 g), lentil (1.4 Kg), bulghur (1.4 Kg), tea (200 g), noodles (2 Kg), tomato paste (4 can), oil (1.5 L). Also, 20 sets of $40 sportswear were distributed to the youth across the camp. The cost of each food package was 25,000 IQD and the total amounted to 15,000,000 IQD.

All our students worked very hard to conduct the project in the most beneficial way for the people in the camp. A team of our students also painted the faces of children in the camp as a way to bring a smile to their beautiful faces.

The aim of this project is to provide help and support to those in need, and convey our understanding and care towards their situation, in effort to raise cognizance that we may find ourselves suffering in such situations one day. Further to this, we intend to enhance the sense of service and sympathy towards humanity and highlight to the Tishk society the importance of giving and putting others before yourself: to live a life of service.

To conclude, it is important to acknowledge that the implementation of such projects would not be possible with the absence of powerful spirits and a hardworking, intelligent team. Therefore, we would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our sponsors, students, and staff, for without them, such successful activities would not exist.

We as TIU, would like to thank all our partners and our beloved students that participated in such an important and humanitarian project. We wish to continue carrying out more works and projects in the future.
