4th Blood Donation Campaign held by the Faculty of Nursing

Blood is essential in helping people survive many illnesses and traumatic injuries. If one’s blood levels fall due to an accident or illness or their blood is not functioning properly, there will not be enough oxygen or other nutrients to maintain their vital organs. That is why blood donation is encouraged, and many organizations hold campaigns around the world to promote participation. The Faculty of Nursing at Tishk International University annually organizes a Blood Donation Campaign; a community social project in which university staff and students are encouraged to donate their blood to save a life.

On May 9th, 2022, the Faculty of Nursing held the 4th ongoing campaign, lasting for two days in total. The first part of the campaign included a workshop in which the blood donation concept was introduced and the advantages of this activity were discussed. The workshop was presented by Shinwy Bakhtyiar Radha, Lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing at TIU. The second part of the campaign encompassed voluntary blood donation, held in collaboration with Erbil Blood Bank Center. The center’s staff arranged for an ambulance and spacemen equipment required to safely take draw blood from donors.

On behalf of TIU, we are delighted to use the donations for cancer patients, and therefore would like to thank all staff and student donors for their participation in this campaign. Such is an act of support and kindness that may seem insignificant, however, it is indeed one that makes a big difference in the world, and contributes to saving many lives.
