The first ICOWOBAS was held 14 years ago, in August 2007, in Surabaya. The event’s purpose was to enhance a new collaboration between Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Indonesia, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. A year later, the second ICOWOBAS was held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on June 03-04 2009, jointly with the Regional Annual Fundamental Science Seminar (RAFSS 2009).
In 2017, the conference was held at Salahaddin University (Kurdistan Region, Iraq) to enrich the collaboration between UTM, UNAIR, and Salahaddin University. In 2019, this event was held again in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, at UTM. The event has become a biannual event held by one of those universities.
This year, we are proud to announce that the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universitas Airlangga, will host the 8th ICOWOBAS, and we look forward to virtually meeting everyone.
The 8th ICOWOBAS will be held to signify the collaboration between Universitas Airlangga (Indonesia), Universitas Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia), Tishk International University (Iraq) and Salahaddin University Erbil (Iraq).
On August 24-25, 2021, an International Conference and Workshops on basic and applied Sciences ICOWOBAS was organized to implement existing collaborations between University AIRlangga Surabaya, Indonesia, University Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia, Salahadin University of Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq, and Tishk International University, Kurdistan Region.
The theme of the 8th ICOWOBAS 2021 is the development of fundamental science and Technology in a new normal era its implementation toward sustainable development goals. The scope of the conference included:-
- Computer science
- Data science
- Environmental science and engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
The conference was held virtually online, nearly 150 to 200 participants joined the conference with 117 presenters, and 11 of the presenters were from TIU.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of Board of trustees – TIU, presented a speech and thanked everyone for preparing this conference, and mentioned that the next ICOWOBAS conference would be held at Tishk International University.
