In a vibrant celebration of inclusivity, intercultural dialogue, and academic exchange, Tishk International University proudly hosted the 8th International Festival of Language, Culture, and Science under the inspiring theme, “Diversity is Our Strength, Unity is Our Power.” Held on April 29, 2025, this impactful event was organized by the Dean of Students and brought together over 6,000 participants, including students, faculty members, international guests, and members of the public. The event fostered an atmosphere of harmony, collaboration, and mutual respect.
The festival served as a dynamic platform to showcase a rich tapestry of cultural heritage, scientific advancement, and artistic expression, all while celebrating global diversity and promoting peace, inclusivity, and academic excellence.
Distinguished guests addressed the audience with inspiring speeches, including Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University; the Consulate General of France in Erbil; and Dr. Aram Muhammed Qadr, Minister of Higher Education. Their remarks emphasized the importance of international cooperation, academic innovation, and the role of global citizenship in shaping a better future.
Thanks to the generous support of JAC Motors as the main sponsor, along with several other partners, the festival featured more than 20 science tents, highlighting breakthroughs in research, technology, and innovation. In addition, 30 cultural tents celebrated the vibrant traditions, languages, and identities of countries and communities around the world, promoting global understanding and solidarity.
A special focus was placed on women’s empowerment and economic inclusion, with 16 tents dedicated to the handcrafted works of housewife entrepreneurs, supporting decent work, and gender equality, and showcasing the resilience and creativity of women in the community.
In a strong demonstration of social responsibility, over 40 food fundraising tents were organized to support charitable initiatives, reflecting the university’s deep commitment to community service and sustainable development. The festival also featured a variety of engaging activities, including horse shows, sports events, traditional performances, and art exhibitions, offering attendees a joyful and enriching experience.
At the heart of the festival was a shared belief in the strength of unity through diversity. This celebration not only highlighted cultural pluralism, but also served as a powerful symbol of hope for a more inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable world.
