International Relations and Diplomacy Department (IRD) of TIU together with Peace and Freedom Organization (PFO) arranged a workshop on “Coexistence and Ethnic-based Discrimination in the Kurdistan Region”. The workshop which was held on Thursday, December 28,2019, in the Main Building of TIU, was attended by students of the Faculty of Administrative Science and Economics and a number of PFO and TIU staff.

The workshop consisted of two parts: in the first part, Dr. Dilshad Hamad, Head of IRD, presented a talk on the issue of coexistence in the post-ISIS Kurdistan Region. The second part consisted of a group work and discussion between over a dozen TIU students, which was facilitated and supervised by the PFO staff. The students were carefully selected to ensure a fair representation of the different religious and ethnic backgrounds of people living in the Kurdistan Region.

This was a great opportunity for the students to come together and share their ideas and views on the topic and to suggest ways for improvement of societal cohesion in the Kurdistan Region. The Department of IRD is committed to provide a better learning environment for its students and is frequently involved in organizing such activities for its students.
