According to the ministerial decree No. 6848 dated 26.5.2021, an official committee visited TIU on the 15^th of June 2021, to approve the launching of a new department at the Faulty of Engineering under the name of Petrochemical Engineering Department. The committee consisted of Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Haseeb Siddiq, Dean of Engineering Faculty at Koya University, as chair, Assist. Prof. Dr. Saif Talal Manji and Assist. Prof. Fakhri Hamadallah Ibraheem, staff of the Chemical Engineering Department at Koya University, as members of the delegation.

The committee was received by Assist. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of Board of Trustees-TIU, Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin Ahmad, President of TIU, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Assist. Prof. Dr. Wasfi Kahwachi, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Halit Wural, Dean of the Engineering Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hamed M. Jassim and Dr. Mohammed Ali Namuq, Petroleum & Mining Eng. Dept staff members. TIU President gave an introductory speech on Tishk International University, Dr. Mohammed Ali Namuq followed with a presentation about the study proposal of the establishment of a new department of Petrochemical Engineering. The committee also visited the related university facilities and labs.

A comprehensive discussion was then held on the different aspects regarding the opening of the new department. We sincerely hope that the approval for opening the new department will be granted soon.
