Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics organized the 3rd International Conference in Accounting, Business, Economics, and Politics (ICABEP 2021) in collaboration with Salahaddin University-Erbil, College of Administration and Economics, and University of Szczecin, Poland on June 29-30, 2021.
The conference was graced by the presence of respected dignitaries from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Khatab Ahmed Shekhani, General Directorate of Education, Planning, Investigation, Representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Jawhar Fattah, and Salahaddin University-Erbil President, Prof. US Dr. Hab. Kinga Flaga-Gieruszyńska virtually presented as the Representative of the President, University of Szczecin. Assist. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, Head of TIU Board of Trustees, Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin Ahmad, President of the Tishk International University, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Saber Mustafa Al-Attar, Vice President, Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Salahaddin University-Erbil, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Vice President, Academic and Scientific Affairs and Assist. Prof. Dr. Wasfi Kahwachi, Financial and Administrative Affairs, Tishk International University. Presidents of other universities and distinguished guests, keynote speakers, authors, presenters, academicians, deans, lecturers, and media also attended the conference.
The conference commenced at 10:00 AM with the National Anthem of Iraq and Kurdistan, followed by a welcome speech by the conference speaker, Mr. Karwan H. Sherwani, Head of Business and Management Department. Assist. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih also welcomed the guests and discussed the academic and institutional points of strength that give TIU the outreach it has. He also accredited the continuous efforts and hard work performed by the University’s Rectorate and Higher Management to uplift TIU’s future academic and infrastructural standards.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Khatab Ahmed Shekhani, Director, General Directorate of Education, Planning, Investigation, and representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research delivered a speech on behalf of Dr. Aram Mohammad Qadir, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Dr. Khatab Ahmed Shekhani spoke about the importance of the content of the conference and said: “Iraq in general and the Kurdistan Region, in particular, are going through a difficult financial and economic crisis. Holding such a conference can play a big role in directing the government’s public policy towards a suitable solution and based on scientific research. He delivered greetings and respect to the conference participants and thanked the organizers and said: “The first task of private universities is to raise the children of the community while conducting scientific research to actively solve the problems of the country and have a fundamental role in developing and developing a modern society”.
Prof. Dr. Jawhar Fattah addressed the audience by recognizing the outstanding performance and achievements of Tishk International University in organizing conferences and other scientific activities. Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin Ahmad, President of the Tishk International University gave an introduction speech regarding ICABEP importance and the value of research as a fundamental aspect of academic life and its contribution to the development of nations through interdisciplinary debates and assisting practitioners.
Dr. Fatih Cura, Dean, Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics and Chair of the Conference delivered an introduction speech regarding the aim, theme, thanked sponsors, and efforts made by all organizing members of ICABEP. He highlighted the importance of in-depth research with dedication and the unique contribution of effective quality teaching and research-based reflection for the indispensable interaction between academic centers and different sectors of activity, especially regarding the emerging trends. The conference chair of ICABEP2021 thanked all dignitaries who graced the conference, and the sponsors of the event (Khoshnaw Group), who were honored with a memento for their cooperation in organizing ICABEP successfully.
The chair of the conference commemorated the idea of ICABEP, which first emerged in April 2017. It was materialized in 2018, as a result of continuous efforts of the instructed team of Tishk International University and its different partners and sponsors. Previous conferences contained numerous academic events, with a significant number of scientific debates and publications in the targeted fields. ICABEP 2021 is the third ICABEP. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the ICABEP 2020 could not take place as programmed.
Prof. Dr. Ahlam Ibrahim Wali, Dean, College of Administration and Economics, Salahaddin University-Erbil highlighted the importance of international conferences which creates a platform to share research and new ideas for key development in research and society. She congratulated the entire team of ICABEP.
The conference hosted two keynote speakers. Prof. dr hab. Dariusz Zarzecki, Chief, MBA Programme, University of Szczecin, Poland, and Mr. Gary Cokins, CPIM, Analytics-Based Performance Management LLC Cary, North Carolina, United States.

Prof. Dr. Hab. Dariusz Zarzecki as the first keynote speaker was devoted to the Contemporary Challenges in Business Valuation and moderated by Mr. Karwan H. Sherwani.
Mr. Gary Cokins as the second keynote speaker was dealt with the Analytics-Based Enterprise Performance Management and moderated by Dr. Navulur Krishna Surarchith.
The ICABEP 2021 scientific secretary received 70 full manuscripts and abstracts in total. Among them, 44 abstracts were selected to present in the parallel sessions by the participants under the supervision of session chairs.
The parallel sessions started at 12.00 PM, at 5 different classrooms including the conference hall and virtual presentations were made by the international presenters from the United States, Poland, Netherlands, India, Nigeria, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and some other cities of Iraq and Kurdistan.
In the conference closing ceremony Dr. Fatih Cura, Chair of the conference, and Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin Ahmad of the conference expressed their happiness in the successful completion of the conference and offered feedback from the audience and researchers which will be the roadmap for future conferences under the name of ICABEP.
