After the successful organisation of the first CORE Symposium, the outcome indicated that many researchers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq are in pace with research to understand cancer biology in Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
Several teams participated and declared their work toward closer insights into understanding cancer’s rate, causes, and molecular biology. Research in oncology and cancer epidemiology is a valuable tool and evidential fact to monitor, validate,  and accredit cancer services for the community. Due to this, Salahaddin University and Tishk international University, in a joint partnership, organised the  2nd Global Cancer and Oncology Research Endeavour Symposium (CORE 2 Symposium).
CORE as an initiative symposium aims to accommodate all clinical doctors, practitioners, medical researchers, and clinical scientists in the field of cancer and oncology together to build a robust bridge between science and medicine, clinics and research, patients and doctors, community and medical families.
The symposium was held on May 19th, 2022, at Erbil International Hotel and will continue till May 22nd, 2022, at the Research Centre of Salahaddin University.
At first, Dr Karzan Mohammad, Head of the Research Centre and Representative of Salahaddin University, officially opened the symposium and welcomed all participants.
He then called upon his excellency Dr Idris Hadi, Head of Board of Trustees of TIU, to address his speech. Dr Idris Hadi welcomed the distinguished guests and scholars, and emphasised the importance of such scientific activities and joint programs. He proposed further collaboration of all parties to build a robust bridge between science and research with the region’s healthcare system and health policy. His excellency showed the readiness of TIU to provide all support needed for future scientific programs and outcomes that the symposium concluded.
Following, the Representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Health addressed speeches and thanked the parties for a fruitful collaboration, hoping that these efforts could result in a solid proactive and interactive linkage between research and the healthcare system.
