The Director of Quality Assurance (QA) at Tishk International University, Dr. Samira T. Saeed, participated in a five-day internship programme for Quality Assurance officials at the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Putrajaya, Malaysia. The programme was held during October 1st -5th, 2018 and topics included overview of the Higher Education and QA systems in Malaysia and the role of MQA in these systems. More focus was directed to the types, processes and procedures of accreditation and the QA support services provided at the Malaysian universities. Also, site visits to a number of public and private universities in Malaysia, such as University of Malaya, Monash University and Islam Science University of Malaysia, were part of the programme to learn closely about their internal quality assurance systems.

Such progammes provide good opportunities to learn about the QA framework and procedures in the Higher Education system of Malaysia and other participants’ countries present at the programme, such as Afghanistan, Japan and Vanuatu. Besides, it helps create international links with the Malaysian and other countries universities. In addition, with a presentation made by the QA Director at Tishk International University, the host country and the other participants had a chance to learn about the Higher Education and QA systems in Iraq and Kurdistan Region with Tishk International University presented as an example of a prominent leading private university.
