Senior Infrastructure Engineer

The Senior Infrastructure Engineeris responsible for the design, security, availability, and strategic improvement of the university’s enterprise infrastructure. This includes network architecture, virtualization platforms, core systems, security controls, SAP hosting infrastructure, and disaster recovery planning.

The role ensures high availability of mission-critical services including SAP, Active Directory, CCTV systems, web services, backup systems, and perimeter security.

General Requirements

Experience

5+ years of enterprise infrastructure and systems administration experience.

Degree

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.

Language

English required – Kurdish and Arabic are a plus.

Network Infrastructure & Security

  • Design and manage core and access networks (Huawei, Juniper, Cisco, Ubiquiti)
  • Configure and maintain Fortinet Firewall and FortiWeb (WAF)
  • VLAN architecture, segmentation, routing, ACLs
  • SSL VPN and remote access configuration
  • WiFi controller administration (Huawei, Juniper, UniFi)
  • RADIUS server integration
  • Network monitoring and performance tuning
  • Network redundancy and high availability planning

Virtualization & Server Architecture

  • VMware ESXi environment management (6.7–8.0)
  • VM lifecycle management and optimization
  • Capacity planning across HPE, Lenovo, and legacy IBM servers
  • Hardware lifecycle strategy and refresh planning
  • Storage and datastore architecture optimization

Enterprise Systems

  • Active Directory (multi-DC)
  • DNS, DHCP, GPO architecture
  • SAP infrastructure support (current cloud, plan to migrate on-prem)
  • Oracle 21c database hosting infrastructure
  • Web hosting infrastructure (Linux & Windows)
  • Integration with external services

Security & Compliance

  • Kaspersky EDR platform management
  • Backup architecture oversight (Veeam, NAS, disaster-only backup)
  • Patch management governance
  • Log review and risk mitigation
  • CCTV infrastructure (HikCentral) availability and network security
  • Incident response coordination

Disaster Recovery & Continuity

  • Maintain disaster recovery strategy
  • Conduct recovery testing
  • Eliminate single points of failure
  • Infrastructure risk reporting to CIO

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years enterprise infrastructure experience
  • Advanced Layer 2/3 networking
  • Fortinet firewall expertise
  • VMware enterprise administration
  • Windows Server 2016–2022
  • Linux server administration (Ubuntu / CentOS / Oracle Linux)
  • SAP hosting environment familiarity
  • Experience with WAF and security hardening

Preferred Certifications

  • Fortinet NSE
  • VMware VCP
  • CCNP or equivalent
  • Microsoft Server certification
  • ITIL Foundation
