In partnership with TAKVIN Organization, the 1st International Workshop on Heart Health Awareness (IWHHA) was held at Tishk International University on Monday, 1st November 2021. The Faculty of Nursing in collaboration with TAKVIN staff members and volunteers, organized this event.

The workshop commenced at 9:30 AM in the Education Building/Seminars Hall, with an opening speech by Miss Roza Talaat, Project Manager at the Faculty of Nursing, followed by speeches delivered by Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of Board of Trustees, Dr. Abdulsamad Salahadin, President of TIU, and Dr. Dara Abdulla, Head of Faculty of Nursing. Professor Dr.Hiwa Banna launched the first session of the workshop by presenting a lecture on the effects of cholesterol, explaining the relationship between plaque formation inside the coronary arteries of the heart and this disease. Dr. Salah Hassan and Dr. Nawshad Nawzad, Local Speakers at IWHHA led the second session of the workshop and were also joined by Dr. Tony Syawish and Dr. Bana Hoshmand, International Speakers at IWHHA. To wrap up the workshop and mark this unique and noteworthy event, a closing ceremony was held at 3:00 PM and was joined by all organizers, members of staff, and attendees.

The purpose of this workshop was to raise awareness on cardiovascular health and help individuals understand how to improve the quality of life through prevention, detection, and treatment of risk factors of heart attacks. The workshop aimed to explore the implications of health, policy, and the health care industry that could have on health professional education and workforce learning; to identify learning platforms that could facilitate effective knowledge transfer with improved quality and efficiency; and to discuss opportunities for building a global health workforce that understands the role of culture and health literacy in perceptions and approaches to health and disease
