On December 4th, 2019, the International Relations Office of the TIU in collaboration with the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy (IRD)of the university organised a workshop for the Consul General of the Republic of Korea to Kurdistan. The Consul General Dr Choi Kwang-Jin was first welcomedby the president of the university, Dr Idris Hadi, and Head of the International Relations Office, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Öztaş. Following this and meeting between the sides, Dr Kwang-Jin was welcomed by staff and students from the IRD Department.

Dr Kwang-Jin then presented a lecture on “practical diplomacy” for the students of the above Department followed by an exchange of views and questions between the presenter and the students. The session was chaired by one of the IRD lecturers, Dr Hawraman Ali, and was attended by several other members of staff, including the Head of the IRD Department, Dr Dilshad Hamad.  

A lunch was then organised for the distinguished visitor and a number of students and staff, which provided a further opportunity for all sides to discuss different topics of interest.

Overall, the participating students thoroughly enjoyed the event and it was hoped that this visit could serve to be the beginning for future relations between the sides.
