On Thursday 4th, February 2021, Mr. Karo Kawa Mahmood, a first-grade student at Tishk International University Law Faculty, organized a presentation titled ‘Kurdish Youth in a Kurdish Society’. He started by playing a video about the well-known Anfal Genocide, the 1988 massacre of the Kurds in the Kurdistan Region in Northern Iraq, conducted by the Iraqi Regime heeded by Former Iraqi President Sadam Hussein.
Mr. Karo Mahmood also discussed issues and problems that youth in Kurdistan face, such as unemployment and the rise of divorce rate in the Region, particularly since 2012. His presentation opened the doors for many discussions and questions. Questions of which he did not answer but left the participants to deeply think about each one and propose solutions to the problems reviewed. Dr. Hussain Balisani, Dean of Faculty of Law concluded the presentation and thanked Mr. Karo Kawa for his courage and bravery to discuss such events to his fellow students and teachers. Dr. Hussain further encouraged other students to perform such activities and presentations in the near future to promote motivation, education and improve critical thinking skills.
