“National Blood Donation” project was announced by Tishk International University (Nursing department and Dean of Students) with the cooperation of Directorate of Blood Bank – Erbil branch.

On November 12, 2019 Blood Donation project was held in Tishk International University by two steps, first step was making a seminar and second step was donating blood.

Firstly, Dr. Sahar Muhammad Zaki presented a speech regarding the blood components and importance of blood donation. Academic staff, lecturers and students participated in the workshop. The workshop was enriched by the opportunity for the students and guests to ask questions and to exchange views with the presenter.

Secondly, Blood Bank Truck was brought to TIU campus and blood donation campaign took place, since donating blood can help in treating patients suffering from cancer, bleeding disorders, chronic anemia associated with cancer, sickle cell anemia, may help in improving cardiovascular health, reducing obesity, and other hereditary blood abnormalities. It is important to know that human blood cannot be manufactured, people are the only source of it and that is why it is important to donate blood and help those who need it. Beside those amazing benefits for both donors and receivers at the same time, another aim was for enhancing the awareness of charity and humanitarian work both in students and staffs of our TIU family.

Tishk International University recorded remarkable work by donating nearly 45 bottles of blood for those who are in need. TIU thanks all the donors and wishes fast recovery to all patients.
