In the presence of the excellency of Head, members of the board of trustees, and vice presidents of Tishk International University (TIU), on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, the handover ceremony was hosted on the TIU campus. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, Head of the board of trustees, handed over the duty of the president of Tishk International University to Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul Samad Salahaddin Ahmad.
Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of Board of Trustees spoke on behalf of the Board of Trustees, saying that TIU University was always remained open to innovation and change, and it’s a part of the TIU’s tradition to give way for the new academic to serve, and bring the best to the university and our community starting from the founding TIU.
As the Board of Trustees of TIU, we have chosen Dr. Abdul Samad after following a process of selection that was congruent with our institution, and Dr. Abdul Samad’s acceptance is a countless gain for our students and university. We are delighted and confident that, under his guidance, our university will take even stronger steps towards its strategic objectives.
Dr. Abdul Samad was formerly Director of a Pharmacy College in India. He has taught various courses to undergrad and post-grad level in the area of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Drug Design and Instrumental Analysis, his prime area of research is designing of bioactive molecules by 3D-QSAR and Docking approaches to get the insight of the binding mechanism of ligands with target protein and subsequent synthesis of some small molecules. He has also served as In-Charge in the central research laboratory at one of the leading universities of KSA and possess operating knowledge of Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, Ion Chromatography, Spectrofluorometer, FTIR, Microwave Digestion System, and HPLC.
Dr. Abdul Samad thanked the trust of the Board of Trustees and ensured them that he will do the best for the sake of students, and staff. He mentioned that it is a pleasure to serve here in Kurdistan at a distinguished university like TIU, and hoped to be an inspiration to other universities.
About Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul Samad:
He received Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, India 2005, with first Division, having excellent grades, and gained Master of Pharmacy (M. Pharm) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as core specialization from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, India, 2007, with first Division, securing excellent grades. He completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science, having Pharmaceutical Chemistryas his core specialization from faculty of pharmaceutical sciences, Shri Venkateshwara University, India, 2016.
He served as a Lecturer, in D. J. College of Pharmacy, U.P. Technical University, Modinagar, U. P, India, between April 2007- Dec 2008, and continued to teach as an Assistant Professor/Lecturer, in department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, College of Pharmacy, Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University, Al-kharj, Saudi Arabia. (Dec 2008 – July 2018).
He was assigned as a Director (Dean), in MESCO Institute of Pharmacy, Amroha, U.P, India. (Sep 2018-Oct 2019). He joined the TIU family in Nov 2019 and continued to teach as an Assistant Professor, in the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, till October 20, 2020. He has published 2 books, “Herbal Medicines for Treatment of Human Diseases”, Bioactive Phytochemicals: Drug Discovery to Product Development, Bentham Science Publishers, 2020., Spectroscopic Techniques for Structural Characterization of Natural Bioactive Compounds, Bioactive Phytochemicals: Drug Discovery to Product Development, Bentham Science Publishers, 2020., as well as more than 34 articles published in various journals and conferences.
Dr. Abdul Samad inaugurated into office on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, as president of Tishk International University.
