Tishk International University had previously submitted a proposal to establish a new Department of Physiotherapy. According to this request, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research committee visited TIU to discuss and evaluate the requirements, including the room & space availability, equipment, devices, staff, and academic regulations. The committee consisted of five members:

- Shwan Qadir Muhammed _ Hawler Medical University (Member of committee)
- Sangar Muhammad Ahmed _ Hawler Medical University (Member of committee)
- Farman Qaseem Ahmed _ Hawler Medical University (Member of committee)
- Dara Abdullah Qadir _ Hawler Medical University (Member of committee)
The proposed department (Physiotherapy) will develop healthcare professionals, well trained with sufficient skills in order to practice Physical Therapy profession. The purpose of this department is to provide the Kurdistan region with high-qualified physiotherapists to meet the demands of society and deliver professional training for undergraduates and postgraduates in the field. TIU aims to establish a unit in which students will be able to acquire skills in management, knowledge, research, teaching, and obtain the required proficiencies pertinent for the guidance and counselling of patients.
