On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Kurdish journalism and the 7th anniversary of the Shayan journalism project, Tishk International University held a special ceremony to honor these two important milestones. The event included presentations of several articles and topics related to journalism. The staff of Shayan magazine, along with various writers and journalists, were honored with certificates and awards of appreciation.Shayan magazine, a general seasonal publication, is considered one of the prominent journalistic activities of Tishk International University – Erbil. Every year, the magazine commemorates Kurdish Journalism Day (April 22) with a series of events and activities related to its field. This year, in celebration of the same occasion and the 7th anniversary of the Shayan journalism project, the event was attended by a notable group, including members of the university’s board of trustees, professors, students, media professionals, and well-known journalists and writers from Kurdistan, alongside the Shayan magazine team.

The ceremony began with a welcoming speech by Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, Hed of the Board of Trustees at Tishk International University and patron of Shayan magazine. Following that, Salar Osman, head of the Media Office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, extended his congratulations to the university and to all Kurdish journalists and media professionals. The final guest speech was delivered by Azad Hama Amin, head of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate, who emphasized the significance of Shayan magazine and the vital role of electronic media and widely consumed Kurdish media.

Later in the ceremony, Ms. Hero Ismail Aref, Editor-in-Chief of Shayan, highlighted the essential contributions of university professors, students, and external writers and journalists to the magazine. She acknowledged their ongoing support through the publication of journalistic articles in Shayan. She also introduced a guest speaker.

The guest of the panel, writer and journalist Brehim Ali, gave a detailed talk on the importance and value of producing a publication like Shayan at Tishk International University. He noted that the magazine has successfully included contributions from both university members and external writers, publishing articles in three languages: Kurdish, Arabic, and English. He praised the project as both significant and demanding. As a regular reader, he commended the content and the dedicated efforts behind the publication.

At the conclusion of the event, special awards and certificates of appreciation were presented to a number of writers, journalists, Shayan staff, and contributors to the magazine.
