Accounting Department under the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics (FASE) organized a national workshop under the title of “Apply and Challenges of Accounting in Business” on 22nd of April 2019. Mr. Karwan Sherwani, Head of Business and Management, gave short-bio of Mrs. Dilbar Mizori, WHA Company for Financial and Human Resource Services, Erbil. She presented her thoughts on the workshop theme. The workshop was having two sessions with 44 participants. The participants consist of students and lecturers from different universities. Participants were served with a coffee break which created an atmosphere of social and professional interaction between participants and presenter between the sessions.

The workshop had an excellent insight for the participants on the current situation and what exactly is happening in the accounting profession in local and international companies in Kurdistan. The workshop ended with the questions and answers from the participants from different directions such as the implementation of the accounting standards, tax regulations, accounting ethics, confidentiality, future of accounting in Kurdistan and so on. WHA Company distributed stress balls and course material to the participants of the workshop.

Dr. Fatih Cura presented certificate of appreciation to Mrs.Dilbar Mizori for providing her valuable insights from her professional experience and the industry.

The areas of Accounting covered in the workshop were as the following:

  1. Introduction to Accounting

Sub-areas: Recording, Summarizing, Reporting and analyzing

  1. The difference between Bookkeepers and Accountants
  2. Basic of Accounting Principles

Sub-areas: Balance Sheet, Assets, liabilities and owner equity, income statement, cash flow statement, statement of shareholder’s Equity.

  1. Difference between financial reporting in local and international
  2. Future of Accounting in Kurdistan
  3. Weak and strong points of accounting in Kurdistan.
