In the country side of Erbil, a school has been built inside the Syrian camp. Dr. Numan Kanar  Academic in the Faculty of Education and some ELT students decided to organize a volunteer teaching program in that school. The idea of teaching simply aimed to provide what Tishk International students could offer to these students in need. As students mentioned that “We realized that it was so small when we found out the number of the students which was astonishing.” Mr. Numan Kanar was the supervisor of the volunteer student teachers. He guided them and gave all the stimulation that they needed. 19 volunteer students participated in the program.

Kanar Stated that when they went there for the first time with lots of enthusiasm and passion, hoping that they could make difference for their innocent life, wishing them a bright future. To their surprise, when they arrived, they understood that the school had 1st grade – 12th grade students and in each class there were almost 35 students, there were more than 3000 students with only 4 or 5 English teachers. Although they studied English, lack of English teachers, books, and materials prevented them from a proper education. As volunteers they decided to give them a helping hand.
