After being certified to the International Standard of Total Quality Management System ISO9001:2008 two years ago, Tishk International University decided to move up the ladder and started the journey of International Academic Accreditation of its Bachelor Program “Civil Engineering” .
This journey started in August 2015 by contacting many International Accreditation Agencies, then one agency located in Germany/Hannover was chosen, this is the “ Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency” (ZEVA) which is s a founding member of The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and The European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA).
After holding a Skype meeting with the agency’s members and signing the contract, the major step has started by preparing a Draft Version of the Self-Report of Bachelor Program “Civil Engineering”. A special committee has been formed to perform this task, it took about four months of hardworking to produce the Final Draft Version of the Report. Later on, the report was submitted for checking. Then, after receiving the preliminary assessment of the Report provided with overall positive remarks and some suggestions, a final version of the self-report was prepared.
ZEVA has formed a Review Panel consists of German Experts who have extensive academic and professional experiences in the Civil Engineering Disciplinary. And as it is mentioned in the agenda they have sent, the German panel are arranging a Site-Visit to Tishk International ’s campus/Erbil in 3-7 October 2016.
The methods and criteria of evaluation applied by ZEVA are rooted in the common European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.
Nowadays at Tishk International University, preparations are being done for the site-visit, wishing to be accredited within the coming academic year 2016-2017.
