As all you know December 17th of each year is the Kurdistan Flag Day. In this context Student Deanery of Tishk International University organized an amazing ceremony.
Here are the brief of our flag, the main characteristic of the flag is the blazing golden sun emblem in its center. The emblem’s sun disk has 21 rays, equal in size and shape, with the single odd ray at the top and the two even rays on the bottom. Number 21 is a venerated number, standing for rebirth/Renaissance in the ancient and its modern offshoots. Red symbolizes the blood of the martyrs and the continued struggle for freedom and dignity. Green expresses the beauty and landscapes of Kurdistan. And White Represent peace and equality.
The ceremony started with the priceless speech by Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of Board of Trustees, he emphasized on the importance of the flag and told many new upcoming progress issues of the university, then the speaker called Peshawa Hazhar, 3rd grade of business and management department for the aim of telling the history of Kurdistan flag and aim of the day, after that the 175 balloons in the color of Kurdistan raised up to the sky by wishing that one day all of us will live in an independence country with the name of Kurdistan. Finally, 3 students hoisted the flag with Kurdistan National Anthem and stood in one minute’s silence in the name of memory of martyrs.
