ERBIL, January 18, 2026 — In an era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping the global landscape, Tishk International University (TIU) has reaffirmed its commitment to student excellence by placing AI literacy at the heart of its academic mission. Recognizing that AI is no longer solely a technical subject but a vital skill for daily life and future careers, the university today announced a major step forward in modernizing its curriculum.
To operationalize this vision, Dr. Ozdemir, Vice President for Academic Affairs, convened a strategic workshop on the TIU campus. The session brought together deans, academic leaders and department heads to finalize the immediate implementation of a new mandatory course, “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence,” which will be offered to students across every department starting this Spring 2026 semester.
The primary focus of the workshop was to ensure that TIU students are not merely consumers of technology, but informed participants in the AI revolution. A key directive from the workshop was to design a curriculum that is universal and accessible. Rather than focusing on complex coding or heavy mathematics suited only for engineering majors, the course is tailored to be relevant for all fields of study—from Law and Dentistry to Business and Education.
By launching this course for the Spring 2026 semester, TIU ensures that its graduates are equipped with a competitive edge, ready to lead in an increasingly automated global economy.
