Tishk International University has launched a charity campaign to support Laya Primary School, a government school located in Kawrgosk, Erbil, which hosts both local students from the town and children from refugee families in the Kawrgosk refugee camp.
The campaign was initiated by the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics, Tishk International University, and implemented with the official approval of the Head of the Board of Trustees of TIU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi. The team was headed by Asst. Prof. Mr. Karwan H. Sherwani.
The initiative aims to strengthen the spirit of social responsibility among university students and staff, while providing meaningful support to a school that plays a vital role in ensuring access to education for both host-community and refugee children. By standing alongside public schools such as Laya Primary School, TIU seeks to contribute to social cohesion, educational equity, and the well-being of vulnerable groups in the Erbil community.
University officials emphasized that such charity campaigns are not only a form of material support but also an educational experience for students, helping them develop empathy, civic engagement, and a deeper understanding of their responsibility toward society. These activities reflect the university’s commitment to serving the community and strengthening partnerships with public institutions.
TIU extends its sincere appreciation to the organizing committee and all academic and administrative members who contributed to the planning and successful implementation of this campaign. Their dedication and collaborative efforts made this initiative possible and demonstrated the strong culture of volunteerism and social engagement within the university.
