The 23rd IEEE International Multi-Conference on Signals, Systems, and Devices (IEEE-SSD 2026), which took place in Catania, Italy, from March 29 to April 2, 2026, was co-organized and sponsored by Tishk International University.

Several universities, including the University of Sfax in Tunisia, Philadelphia University in Jordan, Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany, Leipzig University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and the University of Catania in Italy, worked together to organize this annual conference. The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) provided technical sponsorship for the conference. Other academic institutions and research centers, such as American International University in Kuwait, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia, and South Mediterranean University in Tunisia, sponsored the conference this year.

Researchers and experts in electrical, electronic, and communication engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics, energy, and renewable energy from top universities and research centers around the world presented their scientific papers and shared knowledge at this global conference.

Four major topics are covered at the SSD conference:

1. Systems, Automation, and Control (SAC)

2. Power Engineering and Smart Energy (PSE)

3. Communications, Signal Processing, and Information Technology (CSP)

4. Sensors, Circuits, and Instruments (SCI).

Twelve keynote speeches were given by invited speakers and 222 research papers were presented by 893 researchers from 39 different nations.

Tishk International University’s team included Prof. Dr. Qasim Musa Al-Obaidi, Dr. Ezideen Hasso, and Dr. Wasfi Kahwachi. The SSD2026 conference chair,

Prof. Dr. Qasim Musa Al-Obaidi, gave a speech during the opening session, highlighting the university’s continued involvement in organizing and financing international conferences both inside and outside of the Kurdistan Region.

TIU representatives took part in several social events planned by the conference organizing committee, such as historical site tours, a trip to Mount Etna in Catania, and the conference gala dinner.

Additionally, Tishk international University was a major organizer and supporter of the SSD-PhD3M competition for doctoral projects, in which researchers from eight different nations submitted thirteen projects. Following a three-minute presentation of each project, the three winners were chosen.

The next issue of this conference (SSD2027) is going to take place in Tunisia in March 2027.
