The Faculty of Dentistry Activity Committee at Tishk International University (TIU) successfully organized the Seventh Scientific Conference of Oral Sciences (SCOS 2025). This prestigious event took place on January 27, 2025, in Erbil. Its theme was “From Evidence to Excellence.”

The conference brought together leading experts, scholars, and professionals. All were from the field of oral sciences. This marked a significant step toward advancing research and healthcare practices in Iraq.

The inauguration featured esteemed presences. Dr. Saman Barznji, Minister of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), and Mr. Umed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, attended. Also present were Dr. Dlovan Muhamad, Manager of the Erbil Health Directory. From TIU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, President, participated. Dr. Jafar Naghshbandi, Conference Chair and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, also joined. Furthermore, deans of faculties, trustees, and distinguished guests were in attendance.

The event attracted over 600 participants from across Iraq. This reflected a growing interest and commitment to oral healthcare and research. The theme, “From Evidence to Excellence,” specifically highlighted the importance of evidence-based practices. These are crucial for achieving clinical and academic excellence in oral sciences.

A significant highlight of the conference was an international panel discussion. It was titled “A Global Vision on Dentistry.” Four renowned international speakers featured on the panel. They shared insights on global advancements in dentistry. They also discussed innovative practices. Strategies for enhancing cross-border collaboration were explored. The panel provided a vital platform for exchanging forward-thinking ideas. It also fostered dialogue on the future of oral healthcare worldwide.

In addition to the academic sessions, the program included a vibrant exhibition. It was supported by 18 leading companies, including dental and healthcare industry leaders who sponsored the event. Their contributions showcased the latest innovations, products, and technologies. This significantly enriched the conference experience for all attendees.

Participants also engaged in two specialized scientific workshops. These workshops demonstrated advanced techniques. Adding to the excitement, an engaging lottery event delighted attendees. Nearly 50 valuable gifts were distributed, creating an atmosphere of fun and anticipation.
