Tishk International University Signs a Three-Tier Memorandum of Understanding

As part of the activities heralding the start of the annual International Engineering Conference (10th IEC), jointly organized by the Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) and its counterpart in Erbil Polytechnique University (EPU), a three-tier Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed between the parties at TIU’s Academic Vice President Office on Jun 8th, 2023. In attendance was TIU’s Academic Vice President Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özdemir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at TIU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jwan Jalal, IEEE Iraq Section Chairs, Dr. Sabiha F. Jawad, and Prof. Dr. Sattar Sadkhan, Representative of the EPU Asst. Prof. Dr. Ganjeena Koshnaw and the Chair of IEC-2023 Conference Dr. Abubakar M. Ashir.

The event commenced with the signing of the collaborative sponsorship documents by representatives from EPU and TIU, signifying the commitment of both universities to serve as equal partners with shared responsibilities. This partnership aims to leverage available resources and manpower to ensure the successful execution of the conference, ultimately benefiting not only the Kurdistan Region but also extending its impact beyond. During this, Dr. Jwan and Dr. Ganjeena expressed their utmost satisfaction with the high level of coordination, collaboration, and mutual respect that characterizes the relationship between the two esteemed institutions. They pledged to further enhance and strengthen their ties, reaffirming their dedication to fostering an even more robust partnership.

On the other hand, the second and third MoUs were signed between the organizers, IEEE and IEEE Iraq Section. The documents contain a commitment by IEEE to provide technical support and a platform for the publication of articles and academic presentations from the conference in IEEE Xplore, one of the largest and most reputable online digital libraries. This support is contingent upon adherence to the organization’s technical and ethical guidelines.

In her response, Dr. Sabiha, Chair of IEEE Iraq Section, expressed satisfaction on behalf of her organization and the global IEEE body regarding the professionalism and proficiency demonstrated by the organizing committees of both TIU and EPU in previous conferences, particularly the most recent one held on February 18-19, 2023. She conveyed her confidence in the organizers and pledged to fulfill their role in providing technical support and promoting the conference to IEEE members and beyond, with the aim of encouraging participation in the upcoming event scheduled for February 28-29, 2023. The MoUs were signed by Dr. Özdemir on behalf of TIU, Dr. Ganjeena on behalf of EPU, and Dr. Sabiha as the representative of IEEE.
