TIU Civil Engineering Students Participate in Bauhaus Summer School in Germany
A group of talented civil engineering students from Tishk International University (TIU) recently participated in the Bauhaus Summer School 2023 in Weimar, Germany. The two-week intensive program focused on the theme of “Virtualization, Visualization, and Validation of Urban and Structural Building Responses.”
The students learned from renowned experts in the field, including faculty members from Bauhaus University Weimar (BUW) and other institutions. They participated in a diverse range of workshops, lectures, and project work, covering topics such as seismic hazard assessment, structural health monitoring, use of polymer-modified concretes, and more.
One of the students, Aram Sami, said: “Being a part of the Bauhaus Summer School was a transformative experience. The hands-on projects and interactions with professionals gave us insights that textbooks could never provide. I’m grateful for the chance to have learned in such a dynamic and collaborative environment.”
The summer school not only provided technical knowledge, but also encouraged cross-cultural interactions and personal growth. Participants attended cultural events, city tours, and even international food evenings, fostering a sense of unity and diversity among the attendees.
Dr. Barham Haidar, Head of the Civil Engineering Department at TIU, mentioned: “The success of our TIU students at the Bauhaus Summer School 2023 exemplifies their dedication to academic excellence and their passion for innovative engineering solutions. The skills they’ve acquired, along with the memories and friendships forged during this program, will undoubtedly shape their future careers.”
The students returned to TIU with valuable experiences, insights, and a deeper understanding of modern engineering practices. Their active participation in the Bauhaus Summer School 2023 not only enriched their academic journey, but also contributed to the global exchange of ideas and knowledge in the field of civil engineering.
The Bauhaus Summer School is an international summer programme of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Every year, it offers up to 300 prospective students, undergraduates, and graduates from around 70 nations the opportunity to participate in courses focusing on Civil Engineering, art, architecture, technology, media, and languages.
