Republic of Korea’s Deputy Consul General Explores Collaborative Opportunities with TIU

On October 2nd, 2023, Mr. Park Minwoo, the Deputy Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Erbil, paid a visit to Tishk International University (TIU). The purpose of the visit was to facilitate collaboration between the Republic of Korea and the institution, with the objective of promoting intellectual exchanges and enriching the educational experience for students.

Upon his arrival, Mr. Park Minwoo was cordially welcomed by a cohort of representatives from TIU, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, the Head of the Board of Trustees at TIU, Mr. Abdullah Khoshnaw, Member of the Board of Trustees, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulsamad Salahuddin, the President of TIU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Fatih Cura, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs.

During the meeting, Dr. Idris Hadi presented Mr. Park Minwoo with a comprehensive introduction of TIU, emphasising the institution’s dedication to providing education of exceptional quality. The discussion swiftly shifted towards the prospects of partnership between TIU and the Republic of Korea.

One of the key outcomes of the conference was the resolution to create a designated area called the “Korean Corner” within Tishk International University. This initiative aims to provide students and the wider academic community with a dedicated space to actively participate in and explore many aspects of Korean culture, language, and available educational materials. Additionally, both sides conveyed their delight for the implementation of a Korean Language Course, which would provide students the chance to acquire knowledge of the Korean language and culture.

The Deputy Consul General of Korea also addressed the potential for financial assistance from the Republic of Korea to promote academic initiatives and research endeavours at Tishk International University. This collaboration has the potential to facilitate research endeavours and academic grants that would be advantageous to both students and faculty members.
