University Officials Commemorate UN Security Council Resolution on Women, Peace, and Security

In a symbolic celebration of gender equality and the advancement of women’s rights, Assistant Professor Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of Board of Trustees at Tishk International University’s (TIU), and Dr. Runak, Head of the Physiotherapy Department at TIU, recently participated in a significant event marking the 23rd anniversary of the United Nations Security Council Resolution on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), also known as SCR 1325. The resolution was adopted in October 2000, and their presence was warmly received by Dr. Khanzad Ahmad, the Secretary-General of the High Council for Women and Development.

The event provided a platform for discussing the progress made since the historic adoption of SCR 1325 and the challenges that persist in the global pursuit of gender equality and women’s empowerment. It served as an opportunity for academics, diplomats, and activists to come together and reiterate their commitment to the WPS agenda, highlighting the need to further address issues related to women’s rights in conflict zones and peace processes.

As the anniversary of this resolution serves as a reminder of the journey toward gender equality, TIU’s active participation in such events reinforces the university’s commitment to supporting women’s rights, empowering its female students, and contributing to a more equitable society.
