World Thalassemia Day
The Medical Analysis Department, Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University (TIU) arranged a visit to Thalassemia Center on May, 8th. The event was attended by guests including the Head of the Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, the President, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, Dean of Faculty of Applied Science, Prof. Faiq Hussain, Head of Medical Analysis Department, Dr. Tola Faraj, Mayor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, and the General Director of Erbil Health, Dr. Dlovan M.F. Jalal.
For the purpose of energising and entertaining the attendees, a magician was engaged as part of the initiative.The tricks and illusions performed by the magician brought a smile to the faces of the patients and their families, brightening their day.
Further, the TIU musical group proceeded to the centre and performed a diverse selection of songs with the intention of amusing and elated the attendees on this momentous occasion. The patients took pleasure in joining in with the songs.
A variety of snacks were distributed throughout the visit, affording patients and carers a much-appreciated respite. Juices and an assortment of sweets comprised the snacks, and the patients expressed their appreciation for the refreshments.
Face painting was added, and the patients thoroughly enjoyed having vibrant designs applied to their faces. It was an excellent method of cheering them up and bringing a smile to their faces.
The visit yielded positive results, and the Medical Analysis Department was immensely honoured to contribute to the elation and satisfaction of the Thalassemia patients and their families.
