Faculty of Dentistry Distributes Clothing to Orphaned Children in Eid-al-Fitr Celebration
On April 17, 2023, the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University celebrated Eid-al-Fitr by distributing clothing to 70 orphaned children, aligning with SDG 1: No Poverty. Organized by the Dean of Students Office and fifth-grade students, the initiative began with donation collections on April 1, followed by a planning meeting on April 15 to ensure the clothing met each child’s needs.
During the orphanage visit, faculty and students engaged with the children, fostering a joyful atmosphere of community support. The initiative not only provided essential clothing but also uplifted the children’s spirits, emphasizing that everyone deserves joy during festive occasions. By involving students, the project promoted social responsibility and showcased the importance of community efforts in addressing poverty and enhancing well-being.

Putting a Smile on Children’s Faces
In collaboration with Dilnawa Organization, Tishk International University’s Faculty of Dentistry organized an Eid-al-Fitr shopping event to support children from low-income families.
Led by the Dean of Students and second-year dental students, the initiative provided 68 children with vouchers to select Eid clothing at Royal Mall, ensuring their immediate needs for suitable attire were met.
Through donations, detailed planning, and collaboration with local shops, the children were empowered to choose their own clothing, fostering both joy and dignity. This initiative highlighted the significance of community and university partnerships in addressing poverty-related challenges, promoting inclusivity, and bringing happiness to families in need during this special occasion.

Distribution of Winter Clothing at Sarkrda Primary School
Aligned with SDG 1: No Poverty, the Faculty of Dentistry at Tishk International University organized a winter clothing drive for children at Sarkrda Primary School, which serves Syrian refugee children with limited financial resources.
Led by the Dean of Students Office, the initiative addressed urgent needs identified by the school, ensuring children were properly equipped for the cold season. Donations were gathered and clothing was carefully selected based on the students’ ages and requirements.
On January 26, 2023, the university team visited the school to distribute winter clothes, promoting warmth, dignity, and care for vulnerable children while advancing SDG 1’s mission of reducing poverty-related challenges.

Community Service Project: Orphanage Center Visit
On May 20, 2024, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University aligned with SDG 1: No Poverty by organizing a visit to a local orphanage.
Through campus fundraising, students, faculty, and research assistants collected essential items and food, bringing joy to the children. By collaborating with the orphanage, the team addressed specific needs, tackling poverty and inequality.
This project underscored the university’s commitment to poverty alleviation and community engagement.

Food Fundraising Events Supporting Community Service Projects
November 29, 2023
The Deanery of Students at Tishk International University organized a fundraising event to support community service projects, emphasizing SDG 1: No Poverty.
Led by the Faculty of Pharmacy, the event aimed to raise funds for initiatives such as Autism Care and Awareness, Orphanage Support, and Drug Misuse Prevention. Students contributed homemade foods and crafts, highlighting their commitment to social responsibility.
The event successfully raised approximately 1,500,000 IQD, fostering awareness of societal issues among students and promoting community engagement and compassion.

Fundraising Event for Community Service Projects
February 22, 2023
The Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University hosted a fundraising event aimed at supporting community service projects, aligning with SDG 1: No Poverty.
Funds raised supported visits to an Autism Center, Orphanage, and Nursing Home, allowing the faculty to address the needs of vulnerable groups. The event featured food, medical tests, games, and handicrafts, showcasing student creativity while promoting health awareness.
With over 4,000,000 IQD raised, this initiative exemplified teamwork and social responsibility, fostering a culture of compassion and commitment to poverty alleviation.

Mathematics Education Department Social Visit
On January 26, 2024, the Mathematics Education Department at Tishk International University visited the homes of five students in Ranya, Raladze, and Zharawa to strengthen connections beyond the classroom.
This initiative allowed faculty to understand diverse socio-economic backgrounds and engage in personal conversations, fostering community and support. Sharing lunch with families symbolized communal spirit and TIU’s commitment to a nurturing educational environment.

The Nanakali Charity Project
Since 2017, the Computer Engineering Department at Tishk International University has supported cancer-stricken children at Nanakali Hospital.
Through generous donations, the project provides a monthly salary for two nurses, ensuring continuous patient care. Additional activities include care package distributions, workshops, and fundraising events.
This initiative directly contributes to SDG 1, working toward poverty reduction through healthcare access and essential support for vulnerable children.

Charity Club Distributes 60 Liters of Petrol to Families in Need
Following the success of the February 13, 2024 food fundraising event, the Dean of Students and Charity Club at Tishk International University Sulaimani (TIUS) extended their support by distributing 60 liters of petrol to 45 families in need on February 17, 2024.
Conducted in partnership with Horizon Organization, the initiative aimed to alleviate financial burdens and ensure access to essential resources. Through collaborative action, TIUS and its partners demonstrated compassion and solidarity, making a meaningful impact on the community.
