TIU Contributes to Erbil 2050 Sustainable Urban Master Plan
On June 15, 2023, the Faculty of Engineering at Tishk International University (TIU) actively participated in the 2nd SEA Public Consultation Workshop, contributing to the development of the Erbil 2050 Sustainable Urban Master Plan. The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), focusing on long-term urban resilience and sustainability.
During the workshop, TIU representatives engaged in collaborative discussions centered around eco-friendly urban planning, smart city technologies, and resilient infrastructure. The event, organized in cooperation with JICA Group and Erbil’s Urban Planning Board, demonstrated the importance of university-government partnerships in addressing the environmental, economic, and social challenges of urbanization.
TIU’s involvement underlines its commitment to fostering inclusive, green, and climate-resilient urban development, ensuring a sustainable and livable future for Erbil’s expanding population.

Conference Highlights Urban Sustainability and SDG 11
From December 13–15, 2023, Sofia University’s Faculty of Economics and Business Administration hosted its 25th Annual Conference on “Sustainability, Social Economy, and Digital Transformation,” a major academic event focused on SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Dr. Mohammad Salih Mustafa from Tishk International University was among the presenters, sharing insights on urban challenges in the Middle East, including issues related to housing, infrastructure, and inclusive planning. His presentation highlighted the necessity of sustainable strategies to tackle urban growth and inequality, while emphasizing the role of education and research in driving positive change in urban development.
The conference gathered global scholars and experts, fostering international collaboration and policy-relevant dialogue for shaping sustainable cities of the future.
