Erbil, May 20, 2025 — In a heartwarming and impactful community project, the Medical Analysis Department at Tishk International University’s (TIU) Applied Science Faculty visited Nanakali Hospital. This marked the second consecutive year of their efforts to bring hope and happiness to children battling cancer.
This year’s initiative, mirroring the previous one, aimed not only to raise awareness and show compassion for young patients. It also offered tangible support through donations, entertainment, and thoughtful gifts. The event was notably attended by several high-ranking TIU officials and a large group of dedicated staff and students. They united under the spirit of community service and empathy.
Distinguished attendees included Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees; Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of TIU; Dr. Hardi Jawad Sabir, Director of Nanakali Cancer Hospital; Prof. Dr. Faiq Hussain, Dean of the Applied Science Faculty; Prof. Dr. Hussien Balisani, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Dr. Tola Faraj, Vice Dean of the Applied Science Faculty; and the Head of the Medical Analysis Department, along with the organizing team, academic staff, and enthusiastic students.
The day was filled with joy and emotional moments. Children were treated to a series of entertainment activities. These included live music performances, a magician show, and the distribution of personalized gifts. Funds collected by the Medical Analysis Department community were used to carefully prepare gift packages for each child. These aimed to lift their spirits and show them they are not alone in their fight.
A highlight of the event was a generous donation. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi announced this contribution to Nanakali Hospital. His contribution will directly support the hospital’s urgent needs. Specifically, it will aid in providing treatment and diagnostic kits, addressing core challenges in pediatric cancer care.
“This initiative is more than just a university activity—it is a message of hope, love, and unity,” said Dr. Tola Faraj. “Our mission is to integrate education with community care, and today we’ve seen how impactful that vision can be.”
TIU’s leadership reaffirmed their commitment to expanding community-based projects. These projects serve vulnerable groups and inspire students to take active roles in societal support.
The event concluded with a heartfelt thank-you from hospital officials and families. They expressed deep gratitude for the continuous compassion and meaningful involvement of the TIU community.
