Under the continuous activities of the Tishk International University to expand international relations, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) officially visited TIU to negotiate the opportunities of strategic collaboration and academic cooperation.
The delegation was enthusiastically welcomed by Dr. Idris Hadi, the Head of the Board of Trustees; Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi Prsident of Tishk International University; Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir ; Dr. Hiwa Banna, Dean of the Nursing Faculty; Dr. Dara Abdullah, Head of the Nursing Department; Dr. Salih Ahmad; and Dr. Norhan Shaker.
In the meeting, the two universities had fruitful discussions with a focus on a number of areas of partnership which included:
Student Exchange Program RCSI Bahrain showed interest in sending a group of nursing students to have a short elective program in TIU that would take 2-3 weeks. TIU students will as well be invited in Bahrain to spend the same period.
Staff Exchange – Both parties were content with the need to promote academic mobility to foster professional growth and improve the quality of teaching.
Joint Research Projects- The teams identified possible collaborative research in different nursing and medical areas.
Joint Activities and Academic Engagements – An option of collective workshops, seminars and training programs was discussed.
Joint Conference in October 2026 – To mark the 20 th anniversary of the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONM) at RCSI Bahrain, a large-scale international conference will be hosted in October 2026. RCSI Bahrain offered that TIU should be involved as a partner company. The SONM team will also call back to TIU and give additional information and begin to plan the joint conferences.
The visit is an indicator of the desire of TIU to broaden academic communication networks around the world and developing meaningful international experiences to students and employees. The two institutions were very eager on how to initiate the next process on formalizing and implementing the agreed joint initiatives.
