Cancer Awareness: A Comprehensive Guide to Early Diagnosis and Prevention

On February 16th, 2023, a highly informative workshop titled Cancer Awareness: A Comprehensive Guide to Early Diagnosis and Prevention was organized by the Medical Analysis Department, Faculty of Applied Sciences at Tishk International University. The workshop was graced with the presence of several high-profile dignitaries, including the Head of the Board of Trustees of TIU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, President Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin, Vice President TIU Asst. Prof. Mehmet Ozdemir, and Dean of Applied Science Faculty Prof. Faiq Hussain.

The workshop was designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of solid cancer, including its prevention methods, and raise awareness about haematological malignancies and the pivotal role of CBC in early diagnosis. Dr. Sami Saleem, a renowned Oncologist from Rizgari Hospital, presented an introduction to solid cancer and its prevention methods, while Dr. Talar Muhammed, a Hematologist from Nanakali Hospital, discussed the various types of haematological malignancies and the significance of CBC in their early diagnosis.

The workshop’s primary objective was to create cancer awareness among the university community and promote the importance of early diagnosis. Additionally, it aimed to express solidarity with individuals suffering from cancer in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world. The Medical Analysis department and TIU remain committed to raising awareness about cancer and promoting preventive measures, emphasizing the critical role of early diagnosis in saving lives.
