Delegation from TIU Meets President of Bauhaus University of Weimar, Marking Milestone Collaboration
On August 25th 2023, a delegation from Tishk International University (TIU) met with Professor Peter Benz, President of Bauhaus University of Weimar, to mark a momentous collaboration in academic cooperation and research initiatives, guided by the leadership of Jun. Prof. Dr. Ing. Lars Abrahamczyk.
The TIU delegation, led by Dr. Barham Haidar Ali, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, and Dr. Najmadeen M. Saeed, Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department, convened alongside Jun. Prof. Dr. Ing. Lars Abrahamczyk, Chair of Advanced Structures at Bauhaus University.
The meeting commenced with warm welcomes, with Professor Benz expressing his excitement about the collaboration’s potential. Jun. Prof. Dr. Ing. Lars Abrahamczyk, shared insights into the remarkable progress achieved through their collaborative endeavour, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). His guidance has steered the partnership, resulting in noteworthy advancements and a strong, symbiotic relationship between the institutions.
Dr. Barham Haidar Ali then offered an overview of Tishk International University, underlining its impressive accreditation and dedication to excellence in education. He also highlighted the vast prospects for extended collaboration, particularly within the realm of Engineering programs.
A significant milestone was reached when Professor Peter Benz placed his signature on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), solidifying the commitment of TIU, Bauhaus University, and the Board of Investment of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to collaborative growth.
To celebrate the occasion, an honorary plaque was presented to Professor Benz on behalf of TIU, representing appreciation for the collaborative efforts. The meeting also recognized the successful participation of TIU students and faculty members in research stays, workshops, and training sessions at Bauhaus University during the Summer School of 2022 and 2023, showcasing the outcomes of the collaboration. The meeting concluded with an invitation for President Benz to visit TIU, aiming to strengthen the ties between the institutions and pave the way for further collaboration.
