The first ICOWOBAS was held 14 years ago, in August 2007, in Surabaya. The event's purpose was to enhance a new collaboration between Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Indonesia, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. A year later, the second ICOWOBAS was held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on June 03-04 2009, jointly with the Regional Annual Fundamental Science Seminar (RAFSS 2009). In 2017, the conference was held at Salahaddin University (Kurdistan Region, Iraq) to enrich the collaboration between UTM, UNAIR, and Salahaddin University. Tishk International University is currently working on a project entitled ‘Religious and Cultural Diversity in Kurdistan’, funded by DAAD. The Presidency of Tishk International University (TIU) visited Hawler Medical University on August 26th, 2021. The aim of this visit was to congratulate the recently appointed Head of Kurdistan Council for Medical Specialization, Ms. Aryana Jawad Xalis, on her new position.
