On March 10, 2025, Tishk International University (TIU) hosted the “Kurdish Clothes & Women’s Empowerment” event. Organized by the Dean of Students, it ran from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the university’s main entrance. The event aimed to celebrate cultural heritage and promote inclusivity, gathering students, staff, and community members to honor Kurdish traditional clothing and support women’s empowerment.

A key highlight was the participation of Sara Group Institution. They provided 14 spaces for women—including homemakers and those with special needs—to showcase and sell their handmade crafts. This initiative aimed to support financial independence and recognize their talents.

Students from the Kurdish Club actively engaged in activities. They showcased Kurdish traditional attire. Meanwhile, the Korean Corner added diversity with cultural performances. A vibrant display of Kurdish clothing symbolized unity, cultural pride, and mutual respect. Furthermore, the event featured paintings celebrating women.

The opening ceremony included speeches by university leaders. Dr. Idres Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees, emphasized cultural diversity’s role in building strong societies. Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, the university president, highlighted the importance of empowering women while wearing traditional Kurdish attire. Dr. Jwan, Dean of the Engineering Faculty, spoke on the vital contributions of women in society.

To mark the occasion, over 160 flowers were distributed to staff, students, and participants. This symbolized appreciation and solidarity. The event also promoted Quality Education. It fostered cultural awareness and dialogue, reinforcing the value of diversity in building a harmonious society.

The “Kurdish Clothes & Women’s Empowerment” event served as a celebration of tradition, unity, and inclusion. It reaffirmed Tishk International University’s commitment to an equitable future.
