MoU Signed Between General Directorate of Antiquities and Heritage and TIU for Digitalization of Cultural Heritage Project

In attempt towards preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Kurdistan Region, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between General Directorate of Antiquities and Heritage and Tishk International University. The momentous agreement paves the way for the initiation of the Digitalization of Cultural Heritage Project, an endeavor aimed at safeguarding and showcasing the region’s historical treasures.

The project receives invaluable support and funding from the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) in partnership with the esteemed Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany. This collaboration promises to leverage cutting-edge technology and expertise to capture and preserve the essence of the region’s heritage sites for future generations.

The signing ceremony of the MoU took place in the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Acting President of TIU, Mr. Kaifi Mustafa, General Director of Antiquities and Heritage, Mr. Muhammed Anwar, Head of Computer Education Department and Project Manager, and Mr. Mousa M. Amin, Head of Computer Engineering Department.

The collaborative efforts of both parties are set to make strides in the field of cultural preservation and digital innovation. Through the utilization of advanced digital technologies, this project aims to create accurate and immersive representations of heritage sites, allowing people from around the world to view and virtually explore the rich history and significance of the Kurdistan region’s cultural and heritage landmarks.
