On May 28th, 2019, the Consul (Consular and Labor) from Indian consulate  in the Kurdistan Region, Mr M. P. Raj, visited Tishk International University. Mr Raj held a seminar titled “Yezidis and Hindus: Shared Heritage Some Significant Facts for Thoughts”. The seminar was attended by a number of students from the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy as well as several members from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences and Economics.

In his seminar, the guest speaker touched upon a number of striking similarities between Yazidism and Hinduism. Mr Raj then shared his experience of the time that he has spent in Kurdistan. He mentioned that he has visited some of the sacred places in the region, and then compared some of the traditions and beliefs that he has come across in the region to those that exist in India. The event ended with an opportunity for discussion and the desire for more collaboration—especially between the educational institutes in Indian and Tishk International University.

In addition to the above, the visitor was also welcomed by, and met, the President of the university, Dr Idris Hadi. Dr Hadi then presented Mr Raj with a plaque of appreciation in recognition for his friendship and time spent with our students.
