Prestigious UK Universities Embark on Collaborative Journey with Tishk International University
Tishk International University (TIU) was delighted to welcome a distinguished delegation from the University of Dundee and Leicester University on June 3rd, 2023, marking an important step towards fostering stronger academic and cultural ties between the institutions.
The esteemed delegates included Professor Iain Gillespie, Principal and Vice-Chancellor from the University of Dundee, Mr Jason Norris, the Director of Global Partnerships at the University of Dundee, and Professor Mohammed Al-Uzri, Honourary Chair in Psychiatry at Leicester University. TIU’s leadership, Dr. Abdul Samad, President, Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Academic Vice President, and Dr. Fatih Cura, Administrative & Financial Vice President, received the delegation warmly. A dynamic meeting ensued, discussing potential areas for collaboration and charting a roadmap for mutual academic, cultural, and scientific exchanges.
An important presence during this visit was Dr. Karzan Karim, Educational Advisor from the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). Dr. Karim, accompanying the delegation, reiterated KRG’s steadfast commitment to supporting the private education sector in the region. His participation underlined the crucial role of academic partnerships in advancing the educational landscape, reflecting the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering growth and progress in this essential domain.
Following the productive meeting, the delegation toured the TIU campus, with a special visit to the Faculty of Dentistry. The delegates expressed their admiration for the state-of-the-art facilities and applauded the university’s dedication in providing high-quality resources for its students. The tour was guided by Dr. Duran Kala, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, who showcased the teaching classes, laboratories, and clinics that stood as a testament to TIU’s commitment to excellence.
The day’s activities culminated with a delightful dinner hosted by Dr. Idris Hadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at TIU. Amidst an atmosphere of camaraderie and mutual respect, all attendees savoured the delicacies while engaging in stimulating discussions on various topics, further solidifying the bond between the institutions.
Both the delegates and the leadership at TIU emerged from the day’s proceedings with a renewed sense of anticipation for the future.
