In co-operation with the Minister of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs and the volunteer students and staff, Tishk International University Student Deanery held the third commemoration ceremony with the name of “Thanks for Martyrs” which was dedicated to the late people who had been killed in chemical bombing of Halabja, Anfal, Raparin, and recent Martyrs fighting against the terrorist group of ISIS.

The ceremony was held in Saad Abdullah Conference Hall in which eight Martyr families from eight different region of the Kurdistan region. Plaques and gifts were presented to the Martyrs’ families from Zakho to Halabja: Shahid Tahir Kurki from Zakho, Shahid Shekh Ahmad Mzuri from Duhok, Shahid Osman Perani from Soran, Shahid Maghdid Harki from Hawler, Shahid Sherko Fatih Shwani from Chamchamal, Shahid Husen Mansur from Khanaqin, Shahid Rangin from Sulaimani, and Shahid Ata from Halabja.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Öztaş made his speech on behalf of Tishk International University. Following the president’s utterances, Mahmood Salh gave a speech on behalf of Minister of Martyrs and Anfal Affairs and Lieutenant Governor Mr. Tahir spoke on behalf of Erbil Governate.

During the program, sand art was displayed, portraying the massacre of Halapja, Raparin and Anfal and the poem by Shaban Sleman, dedicated to the Martyrs have been also recited. The event was full of emotion in which the audience, among whom Martyrs families, government officials, academics, students and visitors were, could not keep their tears.

The ceremony has ended with the songs of famous Kurdish singer Shvan Parwar which are dedicated to pashmarga.

The interest in the program was very high. It was telecasted as live on Kurdish channels and on periscope by the social media department of the university.

Tishk International University’s respect and fidelity to Kurdistan Martyrs has shown again .
