Tishk International University Celebrates Kurdish Clothes & Women’s Empowerment Day

The Dean of Students at Tishk International University (TIU) organized a vibrant celebration on March 7th, 2024, dedicated to Kurdish culture and women’s empowerment. The event, held from 09:00 to 16:00 in front of the university’s main building, aimed to showcase cultural diversity and support talented women in the community.

 

Fifteen tents were allocated to the Thalassemia Institution, where women with special needs displayed their talents through handcrafted items and delicious food offerings. An additional eight tents provided a platform for other talented women to market their handcrafted products, empowering them financially with support from attendees.

 

The event was marked by a vibrant display of national pride, as students proudly donned traditional Kurdish costumes, symbolizing unity and representing the rich cultural heritage of Kurdistan. This aspect of the event served as a colorful reminder of the university’s commitment to embracing diversity and celebrating shared identity.

 

During the event, Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, President of TIU, delivered a stirring speech emphasizing the importance of embracing different nationalities and empowering women. He highlighted the significance of cultural diversity in fostering understanding and respect among communities.

 

Reflecting on the significance of Kurdish Clothes Day, attendees emphasized the importance of understanding and respecting different cultures, languages, and nationalities. The celebration underscored the value of cultural diversity and served as a reminder to honour and respect the traditions of others.

 

In recognition of International Women’s Day, participants highlighted the resilience and purity of women, emphasizing their potential to lead society towards moral excellence despite societal challenges. The event served as a tribute to women’s strength and contributions to society, fostering a spirit of empowerment and unity among attendees.
