TIU Joins the SSD Organizers Family

Following the success of the Systems, Signals, and Devices Conference (SSD) for 17 years, Tishk International University joined the family of SSD organizers for the 18th edition of this conference. SSD23 is to be held in Mahdia, Tunisia, from February 20th to 23rd, 2023.

The conference program comprises 5 plenary sessions, 8 keynote lectures, and 32 oral sessions. The SSD23 multi-conference includes the following four conferences covering different fundamental and applied aspects:

  • International Conference on Systems, Automation and Control
  • International Conference on Power Systems and Smart Energy
  • International Conference on Communication, Signal Processing and Information Technology
  • International Conference on Sensors, Circuits and Instrumentation Systems

SSD23 secretariat has received 274 submissions from 35 countries; each paper has been reviewed by specialists on the scientific committee, which consists of more than 100 scholars from more than 30 countries. Only 184 papers have been accepted to be presented at the conference.

In this conference edition, a competition will be held to encourage Ph.D. students to present their research. Tishk International University has helped to provide prizes for the presentation’s winners.

Tishk International University Role in SSD:

Tishk International University has impacted the outcome of the SSD conference in its first year as an organizing committee member. Assist. Prof. Idris Hadi Salih, Chair of Trustees, personally attended the conference’s opening and closing ceremonies and presented an introduction about Tishk international university and its development in Erbil City, where the next SSD is planned to be organized. In addition, Dr. Idris Hadi presented gifts and memories from Erbil City to the conference organizers, who were eager to be in Erbil next year, and mentioned that in the opening presentation.

TIU participated in organizing the SSD23 conference in the following:

  • General Chairing the Conference: Prof. Dr. Faiq H. S. Hussein was one of the four general chairs for the conference. From April 2022 to February 2023, a weekly meeting was held to organize the conference.
  • Evaluating Ph.D presentations for the Ph.D. competition: 46 Ph.D. presentations were evaluated in the early stage by Prof. Dr. Faiq H. S. Hussein, who was also on the jury in the final evaluation for the 14 best projects.
  • CSP Conference Chairing: Dr. Taha Basheer participated as the chair of the Communication and Signal Processing conference to add reviewers, follow paper revisions, and review manuscripts.
  • Charing Sessions: Dr. Taha Basheer participated as a session chair for different sessions in CSP on the second and third days.
  • Rewards and Gifts: The TIU Presidency provided gifts for SSD23 organizers and financial support for the Ph.D. Competition.
  • Analyzing the conference outcome: Different points were highlighted and discussed in SSD23 for better performance in the coming conference.
  • Opening the opportunity for new cooperation between TIU and the world: several discussions and meetings were conducted by TIU presenters during SSD23 events to open the door for hybrid scientific work.
