TIU and UNIMED Discuss Mutual Cooperation
In a significant step towards fostering global academic cooperation, a delegation from UNIMED, the Mediterranean Universities Union, visited Tishk International University (TIU) on December 6th, 2023. The delegation included Ms. Martina Zipoli and Ms. Silvia Marohionne, Senior Project Managers, Mr. Orlando Luca, Financial Manager, and Mr. Bjarne Skov, Senior Internationalization Advisor.
The visitors were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Sultan Abu-Orabi, the President of TIU, Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi Salih, the Head of the Board of Trustees of TIU, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Vice President for Academic Affairs. The primary focus of the visit was to explore avenues for strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, with discussions centered on the prospect of TIU joining UNIMED. The meeting provided a platform for both parties to delve into potential initiatives that could enhance academic exchange, research collaboration, and student engagement. Following the formal discussions, the UNIMED delegation had the opportunity to tour the Faculty of Dentistry at TIU. This exchange allowed them to gain insights into the facilities, programs, and research initiatives of the host institution.
UNIMED, a network of Higher Education and Research Institutions, is actively engaged in promoting academic cooperation in the Euro-Mediterranean region, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and the Western Balkans. With over 150 members, UNIMED plays a crucial role in facilitating partnerships that transcend borders.
