Workshop: Developing Standards and Guidelines of Quality Assurance for KRI Universities

Tishk International University hosted a workshop of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aimed to review and develop quality assurance guidelines in accordance with the European Quality Assurance Guidelines (ESG) and to develop the leaders and standards of ESG in Bologna. The workshop, titled: Developing Standards and Guidelines of Quality Assurance for Kurdistan Region Universities.

The workshop was attended by the Chairman and members of the High Committee Responsible for Reviewing and Designing the Ministry’s ESG-Based Quality Assurance System, a significant number of teachers from public and private universities in the Kurdistan Region, and experts on quality assurance and changes in Bologna. The workshop discussed quality assurance systems of higher education institutions and their linkage to European quality assurance guidelines and standards, with the aim of better implementation of the Bologna Protocol in universities and colleges and improving the quality of all academic, scientific and administrative activities in educational institutions.

Dr. Mohammed Hussein Ahmed, Head of Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the High Committee for Drafting Guidelines on Quality Assurance, based on the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG), announced that the Ministry has initiated the implementation strategy of the Bologna Process in Kurdistan universities. This workshop serves as a continuation of our ministry’s efforts to further promote the implementation of this strategy.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized the importance of developing guidelines on quality assurance in alignment with the European ESG standards for Kurdistan’s universities. He also highlighted that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is diligently working on issuing a comprehensive guideline booklet based on ESG standards and guidelines. These guidelines will be applicable to all educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, aiming to enhance the implementation of the Bologna Process and elevate the overall quality of the education process.

Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed mentioned that this initiative will enable the ministry to effectively monitor the scientific, academic, and administrative functions of academic institutions. This workshop is part of the ongoing activities of the High Committee for Drafting Guidelines on Quality Assurance, held under the guidance of the Supervision and Quality Assurance Agency.
