TIU Key Officials Participate in the 5th Symposium of Partnership in Progress
On November 21st, officials from Tishk International University (TIU), including Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees, Prof Dr. Sultan Abo Orabi, President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, participated in the 5th Symposium titled “Partnership in Progress” fostering stronger ties between the renowned German institution, Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, and its key partner universities in Iraq. The symposium, spanning from November 21st to 22nd, was hosted by Salahaddin University-Erbil and focused on enhancing collaboration in the realms of manufacturing engineering, processes, materials, and machinery.
The symposium brought together representatives from several Iraqi universities, including Tishk International University, Salahaddin University-Erbil, University of Technology Baghdad, Erbil Polytechnic University, Koya University, Al-Nahrain University, Dohuk Polytechnic University, and Sulaymani Polytechnic University.
Key topics discussed include future areas of cooperation between the partner universities and Iraqi companies, with a special emphasis on manufacturing engineering, processes, materials, and machinery. The event represented a platform for fostering academic partnerships and exploring avenues for collaborative research initiatives that will benefit both the academic community and the industrial sector.
The symposium is made possible through the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Federal Foreign Office, underscoring the commitment to international cooperation in the field of education and research. In a notable address during the symposium, Asst. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, reminisced about the inception of collaborations between DAAD and Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) universities, which began in 2009 during his tenure as the Minister of Higher Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Dr. Hadi welcomed the audience and highlighted various collaborative projects between TIU, DAAD, and other universities, showcasing the university’s dedication to impactful research and innovation.
Among the highlighted projects mentioned by Dr. Idris Hadi were “Religious Mapping Erbil”, “The Multiscale Consequence Studies for Hazard Impact on Structures in Iraq” and “Digitalization of Cultural Heritage”.
