TIU’s Faculty of Law Hosts 8th International Legal Issues Conference in Erbil

The Faculty of Law at Tishk International University (TIU) successfully organized the 8th International Legal Issues Conference ILIC 2024, on February 1st, 2024, bringing together legal scholars, researchers, and professionals from diverse regions.

The conference featured a robust participation of 48 papers, spanning various fields of law, presented by academics from universities in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, and Palestine. The culmination of research presented at ILIC 2024 will be published in the conference proceedings and made available on the official website dedicated to the event.

The opening ceremony, hosted at Erbil Polytechnic University, was marked by insightful speeches from esteemed figures, including Assist. Prof. Dr. Idris Hadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tishk International University; Prof. Dr. Sultan T. Abu-Orabi, President of Tishk International University; and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hussein Balisani, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Tishk International University.

Keynote speakers contributed to the ceremony, including Prof. Dr. Basim Mohammed Mulham, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Jordan University; Asst. Prof. Dr. Omer Almakhzoomi, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Al Zarqa University; Prof. Dr. Numan Ahmed, Lecturer at Amman Arab University; Asst. Prof. Dr. Osman Yaseen, Kurdistan Regional Justice Director; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulbasit Kareem, Former Iraqi Minister of Commerce.

The event garnered considerable attention with the presence of the Minister of Justice of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Representatives from Erbil Governorate, and researchers from various institutions. The teaching and administrative staff of the Faculty of Law at Tishk International University also attended, along with numerous guests, ensuring widespread media coverage of this significant academic gathering.

Following the opening ceremony, researchers had the opportunity to present their studies, fostering intellectual exchange and collaboration among the attendees and conference participants. The success of ILIC 2024 has set the stage for the Faculty of Law at TIU to plan for the 9th International Legal Issues Conference, continuing the tradition of facilitating a platform for legal scholars to share and discuss their research.
